One of my clients on this project was the well-known wildlife guru and public speaker, Quinton Coetzee. It was a privilege being in his company. I had already designed a private lodge for him and his family at Kudu Private Reserve.
Savanna is one of the top commercial lodges in South Africa situated in Sabi Sand Nature Reserve. Game drives are the best in the world. The project was to renovate and add to the central guest areas including lounges, dining, boma, kitchen and other areas. It was essentially a new structure with a new roof. Because of guest bookings, the building had to be completed in the shortest possible time. The guys on site were working around the clock. Walking to the lodge one morning, a group of lions blocked our way.
